Srikakulam: The celestial phenomenon of sun rays falling on the idol of the Surya Narayana Swamy at the Sun temple at Arasavilli took place on Saturday i.e, on October 1 and devotees made a beeline to capture the celestial event. Sun rays lit up the idol of the Sun god from head to toe in the sanctum sanctorum. It is known that the phenomenon occurs only twice a year when the Sun enters the Uttarayanam (northern hemisphere) and Dakshinayanam (southern hemisphere). The Daskhinayanam occurs in October and the sun rays fall on the idol on October 1,2 and 3 and Uttarayanam occurs on March 8,9 and 10.
