A Spanish tourist was bitten by a monkey in front of the Taj Mahal's Royal Gate. While the tourist was taking pictures, the animal attacked her. At the monument, the astonished visitor received first aid before being sent for treatment to a private hospital. Safety concerns have been raised by the increase of monkey attacks on visitors visiting the monument. Because hunting down or forcefully relocating monkeys is prohibited by both animal protection regulations and religious convictions, efforts to eradicate the monkey scourge have been ineffective. Every year, the Taj Mahal draws millions of visitors from both domestic and foreign countries.
