The BJP high command is prepared to celebrate September 17 in Telangana in a significant fashion. People have been contacted to mark September 17 as Liberation Day. The Telangana BJP state president Bandi Sanjay, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, and other party leaders have also made announcements about their plans for September 17 and the days leading up to it. Even the chief minister, K Chandra Sekhar Rao, has been invited by BJP to the Parade Grounds function. However, at the just concluded Telangana State Cabinet meeting, it was decided to designate September 17 as Telangana National Unity Day. The Cabinet during its afternoon meeting decided to observe the Telangana National Unity Diamond Jubilee Festival for three days from September 16 . All 33 districts would host grand ceremonies. According to sources, the state government chose to honour the transformation of Telangana society from a monarchy to a democracy and will have an annual celebration of national unity.
