Suspended MLA Raja SIngh approaches SC; challenges PD Act against him
T Raja Singh, a suspended BJP MLA from Goshamahal who was detained pursuant to the PD Act, has filed a petition with the Supreme Court. The Telangana Police's enforcement of the PD Act to the MLA has been challenged in the petition. The Apex Court is set to make a significant judgement today. Raghunandan Rao, a renowned lawyer, will argue Raja Singh's case before the Supreme Court.
The BJP MLA was arrested earlier by Hyderabad Police under the PD Act, and they later put him in the Cherlapalli jail. Raja Singh was given extra protection within the prison.
However, some Hindu organisations have criticised the PD Act that was brought against the BJP MLA. Protests against the detention have been launched by Raja Singh's supporters in some regions of the state.
