The workforce of a garment factory in the Brandix Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Atchutapuram region were affected by a gas leak event, and the Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday ordered a high-level probe into the matter. Up to 121 female workers in the Anakapalle district were transported to various hospitals after complaining of nausea, vomiting, and shortness of breath; some of them even fainted. Following the incident on June 3 in the same location, where more than 300 female workers fainted out after complaining of eyesores, nausea, and vomiting, there was reportedly a second such event there in two months.
