Kamboj, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 1987 batch, assumed responsibility as India's next permanent representative to the UN on Tuesday and gave UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres a copy of her credentials. She described it as a privilege to be the first Indian woman to hold this post in a tweet. For the girls out there, she also tucked in a letter that read, "We can all make it!" At the Security Council, where India is a member-elect, Kamboj will assume her place. Kamboj was both the top female candidate in all of India for the 1987 Civil Services batch and the top candidate for the foreign service batch.
