Bhadrachalam: Tension escalated at Bhadrachalam after the water level in the river Godavari is increasing rapidly due to the heavy rains in the catchment areas. According to the reports, the water level in the Godavari reached 67 feet at Bahdrachalam and it is said it will be more dangerous if the level reaches 75 feet. CWC officials said that the present situation is recalling the 1986 floods. It is said that 29 lakh cusecs flood water will reach Bhadrachalam. The bridge also closed due to the severe floods. It is said that the water level in the river Godavari reached its highest level of 75.6 feet at Bhadrachalam on 16th August 1986 and destroyed the town. In 1990, the river water level reached its second highest level 70.8 feet.
