Droupadi Murmu, a candidate for the NDA, on Friday filed her nomination papers for the candidature of President post, the election to be held on July 18. The nomination forms were given to P.C. Modi, secretary general of the Rajya Sabha and returning officer for the election. First, Draupadi Murmu was suggested as a name by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following that, 50 members of the Electoral College nominated, and another 50 supported. Several Union Ministers, BJP officials, Odisha Ministers, and BJD MLAs, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda, attended the nomination ceremony. Draupadi Murmu has previously paid flower tributes at the statues of Birsa Munda, Ambedkar, and Mahatma Gandhi near the Parliament building.
