Vijayawada, June 01: A state-level football player stabbed to death by rivals at Gurunanak Colony here on Tuesday night. The deceased identified as Akash. According to police, Shankar alias Tony died under mysterious circumstances in Vambay Colony. His followers consisting of two groups reached GGH as police shifted Tony’s body to post-mortem. Later, both groups went to a nearby bar and consumed liquor. A tiff aroused between Akash and a member of opponent group. His friends forcefully shifted Akash to Gurunanak Colony from the bar. Ten persons belonging to rival group came to know the location of Akash. They arrived with knives and stabbed him to death. Akash was rushed to a nearby private hospital. But the doctors declared him brought dead. The police registered a case.
