Vijayawada, May 24: TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin, urging to curtail smuggling of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice from his state to Andhra Pradesh. Naidu brought to his notice to step up vigil on the borders of both neighbouring states for preventing ration rice smuggling. He also informed the CM that rice smuggled into AP is sent to rice mills for polishing. Chandrababu stated that the polished rice is sent to open markets and sold at higher prices. “Rice meant for poor is smuggled and cheating the people by selling polished rice,” he mentioned.
