IPL 2022: Ban umpire Nitin Menon trends after no ball controversy
Part 2
On Friday, the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals played a high-octane Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium.
The controversy began in the final over, when Delhi required 36 runs, and their prospects of an unexpected triumph were boosted when Rovman Powell clobbered fellow West Indian player Obed McCoy for three consecutive sixes off the first three deliveries. The third six came after a high full toss from the left-arm fast bowler, and the on-field umpires determined that the delivery was not above the waist and didn't actually call a no-ball, giving Delhi an extra run and a free hit on the next ball.
Even after seeing the screen, umpire Nitin Menon did not consider the ball to be a no-ball. The audience referred to the umpire as a cheater.
