The West Bengal Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes today as MPs from the governing Trinamool Congress and the Opposition BJP clashed after the BJP demanded that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee address in the House on the state's law and order crisis. Following the commotion, the Speaker suspended Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari and four other BJP MLAs. This comes in the wake of the heinous killings in Birbhum district's Rampurhat, where eight members of a family, including five women and two children, were brutally attacked and then burned to death. The event is said to be vengeance for the death of a local Trinamool Congress politician, Bhadu Sheikh, in a crude bomb assault. The CBI is investigating the killings after the Calcutta High Court intervened.
