The Eiffel Tower, France's most recognisable monument, increased by six metres (almost 20 feet) on Tuesday with the installation of a new digital radio antenna at its top. Engineers erected a new communications antenna on top of it. Engineers used a helicopter to finish the installation operation in about 10 minutes. On March 31, 1889, the Eiffel Tower was inaugurated at a height of 1,024 feet. Meanwhile, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tower is closed to tourists in late 2020, since the virus's progress has caused the closure of several locations where people may congregate and transmit the disease.
