Andhra Pradesh Announces ₹25 Lakh Aid for Simhachalam Temple Victims
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a compensation of ₹25 lakh each to the families of those who died in the wall collapse near the ₹300 ticket counter at the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Simhachalam. The government also stated that ₹3 lakh each would be provided to the injured.
Expressing deep grief over the incident that claimed the lives of eight devotees, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu held a teleconference with ministers and senior officials to review the situation. During the meeting, he directed authorities to ensure the disbursement of the announced compensation.
Chandrababu Naidu further suggested that the families of the victims be offered employment through outsourcing at temples under the jurisdiction of the Endowments Department.
Ministers Anitha, Dola Bala Veeranjaneyaswamy, Anagani Satya Prasad, MP Bharat, and hereditary trustee of the Simhachalam Devasthanam Ashok Gajapathi Raju participated in the teleconference. The Chief Minister inquired about the circumstances leading to the accident and the medical assistance being provided to the injured. He ordered an investigation into the incident to be conducted by a three-member committee.
