IPL Young Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi Honored by Bihar Government

In a historic moment in the Indian Premier League (IPL), 14-year-old Bihar prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been felicitated by the Bihar government for his outstanding performance. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who shattered records with a phenomenal century against Gujarat Titans, was awarded a cash prize of ₹10 lakh by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who also extended his congratulations.

On Monday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, playing for Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Suryavanshi unleashed an explosive batting display against Gujarat Titans' bowlers. At just 14 years and 32 days old, he scored a remarkable century, becoming the youngest player in T20 cricket history to achieve this feat. His fearless approach against experienced Gujarat bowlers amazed sports analysts. Additionally, his innings registered as the second-fastest century in IPL history, following Chris Gayle's 30-ball record. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s blazing innings came to an end when he was bowled by an exceptional yorker delivered by Prasidh Krishna.

Responding to this extraordinary performance, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Tuesday, announced a ₹10 lakh cash reward on behalf of the state government while lauding Vaibhav Suryavanshi. "Heartfelt congratulations to Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar, who scored a century at the youngest age in IPL. Through his hard work and talent, he has emerged as a new ray of hope for Indian cricket. The state is proud of him. When I previously met Vaibhav and his father, I had wished for his bright future. I also conveyed my congratulations over the phone. I hope he represents India and sets many more records in the future," Nitish Kumar stated on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan also praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s talent. "Such a magnificent start at such a young age. His future is extremely bright," Chirag Paswan stated.
