Owaisi Responds Fiercely to Bilawal Bhutto’s Bloodshed Remarks
AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi issued a strong response to remarks made by Pakistan Peoples Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari concerning the Indus Waters Treaty. Referring to Bhutto’s comment that “blood will flow” if Pakistan’s rights over the Indus River are denied, Owaisi questioned the intent and morality behind such rhetoric.

Bilawal Bhutto made the statement during a rally on Friday, saying, “The Indus River is ours, it will remain ours… either our water will flow through it or their blood will.” His remarks were in response to India’s reported consideration of suspending the Indus Waters Treaty in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The statement drew widespread condemnation from political leaders across India.

Responding to a question about Bilawal Bhutto’s comment, Asaduddin Owaisi dismissed it, saying, “Do not pay attention to such childish talk. Does he not know what happened to his grandfather and mother? His mother was killed by terrorists. He should at least reflect on that before making such statements. Does he even know what he is saying? He is in such a position that he cannot run his country without American support, yet he dares to threaten us?”

Owaisi went on to question the hypocrisy he perceived in Bhutto's comments. “He should think about who killed his mother. It was terrorism that took her life. If he doesn’t understand that, what else can we explain? If your mother is shot and killed, is it terrorism? But when our mothers and daughters are killed, is it not?” he asked.

Further condemning Pakistani leaders for threatening India with nuclear weapons, Owaisi said, “No country will remain silent when terrorists enter its territory and kill innocent people. It doesn’t matter who is in power—this will not be tolerated. The way you attacked our country, asked for people’s religion before killing them—what religion are you speaking for? You are worse than the Khawarij. You are ISIS sympathisers,” he said.

Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and mother of Bilawal Bhutto, was assassinated on December 30, 2007, in Rawalpindi during a public rally. Though allegations were made against al-Qaeda and Taliban-affiliated groups, the case remains unresolved to this day.
