Central Alert Triggers Anti-Terror Operations in Vijayawada
Tension gripped Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh following reports of terrorist activity. Based on intelligence inputs, police have identified four individuals in the city who are believed to be sympathisers of the banned organisation Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). In response, police initiated extensive search operations in several parts of the city in an effort to detain the suspects.
According to sources, central intelligence agencies had alerted the police nearly two months ago about possible terrorist movements. Acting on this earlier warning and recent developments, Vijayawada police began combing operations in areas including Gollapudi, Ashok Nagar, and Labbipet on Friday.
This action comes in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which led the central government to issue a nationwide security alert. Across the country, intensified raids are being conducted by police in various cities to identify and apprehend suspected terrorists and their sympathisers.
