AP Government Proposes Greenfield Airports in Amaravati and Srikakulam
The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to construct international greenfield airports in Amaravati and Srikakulam. Officials believe that an airport in Amaravati is essential to attract investments, as it would enable global companies to establish direct operations in the region.

In addition, the government has decided to build another airport in Srikakulam district, near the existing Bhogapuram airport. The Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited (APADCL) has issued a notification to conduct a technical and financial feasibility study for the proposed airports. The state has invited bids for the construction of these airports, setting a 32-week deadline for bid submissions. Authorities have also sought assessments on the potential economic and commercial benefits these airports could bring.

The government highlighted that after the development of Hyderabad airport, investments in the region increased significantly. Officials believe that Amaravati’s lack of an airport has hindered its international recognition and investment potential.
