NRI Woman Found Dead in Vizag Hotel Under Suspicious Circumstances
A Non-Resident Indian (NRI) woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel in Visakhapatnam, causing a stir locally. The incident came to light late on Saturday.

According to police reports, the deceased, a 48-year-old woman from Seethammadhara, had settled in the United States with her husband and two children. A 52-year-old doctor named Sridhar, who is also from Visakhapatnam and now resides in the U.S., was known to have a friendship with her.

Sridhar had arrived in Visakhapatnam about a month ago and was staying in a hotel room. The NRI woman had also recently come to the city regarding a private property lease agreement and was staying in Sridhar's hotel room.

On Thursday afternoon, Sridhar reportedly filed a complaint stating that the woman had died by suicide by hanging herself with a shower hose in the hotel bathroom. However, police noted that there were no visible signs of hanging in the bathroom, raising suspicions. In his statement, Sridhar later suggested that she might have died due to health issues, further fueling doubts.

Sources indicate that prior to the incident, an argument occurred between the two over certain videos of women on Sridhar's phone. It is suspected that this dispute may have led to her distress and subsequent suicide.

Despite this theory, the absence of suicide-related evidence has led to suspicions of foul play. The woman was reportedly wearing gold jewelry worth approximately ₹20 lakh at the time of her death.

Upon receiving information, the woman's husband arrived in Visakhapatnam on Saturday and took possession of her body after the post-mortem. Police have stated that the post-mortem report will help clarify the circumstances of her death. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
