Cyber Crime Police Stations Planned for Every District in Andhra Pradesh
The Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, has highlighted the increasing prevalence of cybercrimes in the state. Speaking to the media in Srikakulam, the DGP stated that the police are taking stringent measures to curb cybercrimes. As part of this initiative, the state government is planning to establish a dedicated Cyber Crime Police Station in every district.

Dwaraka Tirumala Rao emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about cybercrimes to prevent individuals from falling victim to cybercriminals. He added that awareness campaigns are crucial to educate citizens and reduce such incidents. Addressing the rise in crimes against vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly, he expressed concern, calling it a matter of shame for a civilized society.

Eagle Unit to Tackle Ganja Cultivation

The DGP pointed out that despite efforts to combat the illegal cultivation and trafficking of ganja, its roots remain concentrated in the northern Andhra Pradesh region. To address this issue, a special unit called "Eagle" has been established, focusing on monitoring and controlling ganja-related activities. The police are also conducting awareness campaigns in schools and colleges to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse. Additionally, the state government has set up a committee involving cabinet ministers to oversee ganja eradication efforts.

CCTV Cameras for Crime Prevention

The DGP also spoke about the use of technology to prevent crimes across the state. He explained that CCTV cameras are being installed in identified “black spots” where crimes are more likely to occur. These cameras are strategically placed to ensure that any criminal activity is recorded. By March 1, the state aims to install a total of 100,000 CCTV cameras, with support from donors and the public.
