Nandamuri Balakrishna Honored with Padma Bhushan, Manda Krishna Madiga Awarded Padma Shri
Telugu film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has been conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in recognition of his contributions to the arts. Balakrishna, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, received this honor in the category of arts. From Telangana, Manda Krishna Madiga, founder and president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), has been awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions in the field of public affairs.

Several other eminent personalities from Andhra Pradesh were also honored with Padma Shri awards. These include Miriyala Apparao (arts), K.L. Krishna (literature), Madugula Nagaphani Sharma (arts), and Panchamukhi Raghavacharya (literature). Renowned medical professional Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his outstanding contributions.

Across the country, notable awardees include Kannada actor Anant Nag (arts), Tamil actor Ajith Kumar (arts), senior Tamil actress Shobana (arts), filmmaker Shekhar Kapur from Maharashtra (arts), hockey player Sreejesh from Kerala, Bibek Debroy from Delhi (literature), Manohar Joshi from Maharashtra (public affairs), and Sushil Kumar Modi from Bihar (public affairs), who have all been honored with Padma Bhushan awards.

The Government of India has announced a total of 139 Padma awards this year, which include 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards.
