Tirupati: Robbers waylay recently married couple for jewellery, man murdered

Tirupati, November 1: Three robbers threatened a recently married couple on the outskirts of Turlapalli village in Chittoor district for jewellery while they were heading to their native Nekkondi village in Punganur mandal. They murdered the man with knives when he raised cry for help and asked his wife not to give gold ornaments to them.
 
According to police, robbers waylaid Reddappa’s son Dhamu and his wife Anuradha for jewellery while they were returning to Nekkondi village from in-law’s house. They ran behind Dhamu and stabbed him multiple times as he began shouting for help. While robbers chasing Dhamu, his wife ran towards the village and informed relatives. By the time she arrived with relatives to save her husband, he was found dead. 
 
On receiving information, Punganur Urban CI Gangireddy reached the spot along with police personnel. Body of Dhamu shifted to government hospital for post-mortem after registering a case. A pall of gloom descended on Nekkondi village with the death of Dhamu.
