AP’s debt to GSDP ratio is 33.4% whereas Modi govt’s 57%: MP Vijayasai

Delhi, July 28: Compared to Central government, financial situation of Andhra Pradesh is much better, said YSRCP floor leader in Rajya Sabha V. Vijayasai Reddy on Thursday while speaking to the media here. “Indian government debt to GSDP ratio is 57% for the financial year 2021-22 whereas AP’s 33.4%,” he said.

Rejecting Centre’s claim, the MP said that devolution of funds to the states have decreased. He alleged that the Modi government is misleading by saying 41% from total revenues is given to states.

Vijayasai mentioned that the Union government is increasing cess and surcharge year after year as states can’t claim share in them. “AP would have got an additional Rs 50,000 crore in the last seven years if Centre gave share from cess and surcharge,” he stated.

Taking pot shots at TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, the YSRCP leader sarcastically said that he would run away for safe country soon like former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
