Ensuring no shortage of drinking water to Hyd till 2072: KTR

Nalgonda, May 14: Addressing a meeting after laying foundation stone for construction of Intake Well Pumping Station in Nagarjunasagar, Minister for IT, Industries and Municipal Administration K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) said on Saturday that the TRS government wants to ensure no shortage of drinking water to Hyderabad till 2072.
 
“We can supply drinking water to Hyderabad even if drought prevails for five consecutive years,” he stated and added that laying 3.8 diameter water pipelines around Outer Ring Road is under progress. He mentioned that drinking water will be supplied to municipalities and villages close to ORR once pipe-laying works are completed.
 
KTR further said that his government is fixing pumps and motors with an estimated cost of Rs 1,450 crore at Sunkishala Project for lifting an additional 16 tmcft for meeting drinking water needs of Hyderabad people. “We will complete the works by next summer,” he said. Ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy, Mahmood Ali, Jagadish Reddy and others were present.
