Centre to Introduce New Toll Policy

Centre to Introduce New Toll Policy
The Central Government has announced a new initiative aimed at easing the financial and logistical burden on frequent travellers along national highways. This move is expected to benefit vehicle users who often face inconvenience with repeated toll tax payments and FASTag recharges.

As part of the latest proposal, the Centre is planning to introduce a FASTag pass system to reduce expenses at toll plazas for vehicles that frequently use national highways. Under this scheme, motorists may soon have the option to pay an annual fee of ₹3,000. This would allow them to travel freely and without limitations on national highways, expressways, and state expressways throughout the year.

The proposed scheme will include two payment options. The first is an annual pass requiring a flat payment of ₹3,000 per year. This pass will provide users with unlimited travel access on toll roads.

The second option will be a distance-based pass. Under this model, vehicle owners will pay a fixed charge of ₹50 for every 100 kilometres travelled. Notably, this scheme does not require the submission of any additional documentation.
