Anti-Drone Shield for Taj Mahal Amid Security Threats
In response to threats suggesting potential danger to the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India’s most visited tourist destinations, the central government has taken precautionary measures to bolster its security. Authorities have announced plans to install a cutting-edge anti-drone system around the monument to effectively counter aerial threats.
Syed Arib Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing security matters, stated that the anti-drone system will be deployed within the Taj Mahal complex and will be capable of functioning within a radius of 7 to 8 kilometers. At present, the system has been tested to operate effectively within a 200-meter radius of the main dome. If any drone enters this zone, the system will detect the drone's signals and automatically jam them, rendering the drone inoperative. He further noted that this mechanism is referred to as the "stop-kill" system.
Syed Arib Ahmad also mentioned that police personnel are currently undergoing training to operate and manage this advanced system. A dedicated unit will soon be formed to handle the operations.
Security at the Taj Mahal is currently managed by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Police. To enhance the existing security infrastructure, officials have decided to integrate this state-of-the-art drone neutralization technology and are making the necessary arrangements for its implementation.
