Kohli Creates History, Breaks David Warner’s All-Time IPL Record
In a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match held on Saturday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a narrow two-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Star batter Virat Kohli played a pivotal role in this win with a blistering 62-run innings off just 33 balls.
This innings marked Kohli’s seventh half-century of the season. With this performance, he surpassed a significant all-time IPL record previously held by former Australian opener David Warner. Kohli's latest feat has placed him at the top of the list for the most runs scored by a player against a single opponent in IPL history.
By scoring 62 runs against CSK, Kohli took his total tally to 1,146 runs against the franchise, surpassing David Warner’s record of 1,134 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS). This milestone adds yet another remarkable achievement to Kohli’s illustrious IPL career.

RCB, after choosing to bat first, posted a commanding total of 213 for five in their allotted 20 overs. Despite the steep target, CSK fought valiantly till the final over. Needing 15 runs off the last six balls, they fell just short, managing only 13 runs, handing RCB a two-run victory.
Among CSK's batters, 17-year-old Ayush Matre delivered a standout performance, scoring a brilliant 94 runs off 48 balls, narrowly missing a century. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also contributed significantly with an unbeaten 77 off 45 balls. However, their efforts were not enough to carry the team across the finish line.
RCB pacer Yash Dayal held his nerve under immense pressure in the final over and ensured a memorable win for his side by conceding just 13 runs, sealing the victory by a narrow margin of two runs.
