Kohli, Padikkal Star in RCB’s 7-Wicket Triumph Over PBKS in IPL 2025
In the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured another win, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 7 wickets. The match took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
Chasing a target of 158 runs, RCB faced an early setback in the very first over when opener Phil Salt was dismissed for 1 run by Arshdeep Singh. However, Devdutt Padikkal entered the crease and, in partnership with Virat Kohli, stabilized the innings. Padikkal played aggressively, launching a counterattack against the Punjab bowling lineup.
The pair forged a crucial 103-run partnership for the second wicket. Devdutt Padikkal scored a rapid 61 off 35 balls, which included 5 boundaries and 4 sixes. After Padikkal’s dismissal, captain Rajat Patidar contributed 12 runs but could not stay long at the crease.
Virat Kohli held firm until the end, anchoring the innings with a responsible knock of 73 not out from 54 deliveries, which included 7 fours and 1 six. With Kohli guiding the chase, RCB comfortably reached the target in 18.5 overs, finishing at 159 for 3 wickets.
Among the Punjab bowlers, Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, and Yuzvendra Chahal each claimed one wicket.
