Anchor Ravi Releases Apology Video; Clarifies Intent Behind Spoof in TV Show

Prominent television presenter Anchor Ravi has issued a public apology after a skit aired during a recent episode of the show Super Serial Championship sparked strong backlash from Hindu communities. The skit, performed by Sudigali Sudheer's team and hosted by Anchor Ravi, portrayed a scene that many viewers found deeply offensive to Hindu sentiments.
The controversy arose from a particular segment in the skit where, instead of a deity appearing through the horns of Nandi — the sacred bull traditionally seen at the entrance of Shiva temples — a woman appeared. In Hindu belief, it is considered spiritually significant to view Lord Shiva through the horns of Nandi, and this scene was perceived by many as a mockery of religious tradition.
Following widespread criticism and warnings from several Hindu organizations, Anchor Ravi released a video statement addressing the issue and apologizing to those who were hurt by the performance.
"Greetings to everyone. Recently, along with a few artists, I participated in the Super Serial Championship. As part of the program, we presented a spoof. It was not created with the intent to hurt anyone, especially not with the purpose of offending Hindu sentiments. This was not a skit written specifically by a scriptwriter; it was a spoof based on a scene from a movie, which we enacted on stage," said Anchor Ravi in the video.
He continued, "We have now come to know that many Hindus felt hurt by the performance. I have received many calls pointing out that it was wrong to present it in that manner. Therefore, we will be more careful in the future to avoid such incidents. Jai Shri Ram... Jai Hind."
The video has since been widely circulated as Anchor Ravi attempts to address the concerns raised and assure viewers that no disrespect was intended.
