The 73rd Miss World pageant concluded in grand style in Vietnam, with Joherrie Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic being crowned the new Miss World 2026. Spain’s Elisabeth Rains was named first runner-up, while Malaysia’s Tanusia Chetti secured the second runner-up position.
Outgoing titleholder Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand crowned the new winner.
The new Miss World works as a teacher and social activist. Through her organisation “Voices of Tomorrow,” she provides English education to underprivileged children. Her community service and contributions to the education sector have been widely praised as key reasons for her victory.
Tanzania will host the next edition of the pageant.
Meanwhile, India will be represented by Kajia Liz Mejo at the Miss Universe pageant scheduled later this year in Puerto Rico.
At Miss World 2026, India’s representative, Femina Miss India World 2024 Nikita Porwal, advanced to the Top 40. She could not secure a place in the Top 20 in the subsequent round, disappointing Indian fans. However, the Miss India Organisation noted that Nikita continued India’s streak of placements for the fifth consecutive year and described her performance as a matter of national pride.
Hailing from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Nikita Porwal previously worked as a television anchor and has also acted. She featured in the Brij-language film Chambal Par. Her distinctive gown at the finals drew widespread attention.
