Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Sets New Record

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad has set a new record with a significant increase in passenger traffic. During the 2024–25 financial year, the airport recorded a 15.20 percent growth in passenger movement, surpassing several major airports across the country.

According to official figures, a total of 21.3 million passengers travelled through Shamshabad Airport in the last financial year. Based on the current trend, officials stated that the number of passengers could reach 30 million in the coming year if the growth continues.

From January to March this year, the airport achieved another milestone in both domestic and international traffic. While the usual monthly passenger count was around 2 million, this time, a total of 7.4 million passengers travelled through the airport over the three-month period.

In terms of passenger traffic, Shamshabad Airport has now overtaken Chennai and Kolkata airports.

Officials also provided details on international routes, stating that an average of 93,000 passengers travelled monthly from Hyderabad to Dubai, 42,000 to Doha, 38,000 to Abu Dhabi, 31,000 to Jeddah, and 31,000 to Singapore.
