Saudi Arabia Suspends Visas for 14 Countries, Including India and Pakistan

As the Hajj pilgrimage approaches, Saudi Arabia has taken a significant step by temporarily suspending the issuance of visas to citizens from 14 countries. The suspension applies to Umrah, business, family visit, and similar visa categories. Saudi authorities stated that the decision was made to prevent unregistered pilgrims from entering the country during the Hajj season.
According to officials, the measure is intended to avoid a repeat of last year’s overcrowding issues, which occurred due to the presence of unregistered pilgrims. During the previous Hajj, over 1,200 pilgrims reportedly died due to various causes, and authorities believe that the influx of unregistered individuals contributed to severe congestion.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made the decision to temporarily halt the issuance of certain visa categories. He also instructed officials to strengthen visa regulations to ensure better control and organization during the Hajj season.
However, this temporary suspension does not apply to diplomatic visa holders, residents, or pilgrims who are officially registered for the Hajj. The list of affected countries includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Nigeria, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen.
