Extreme Dieting Claims Life of 18-Year-Old Woman in Kerala
A tragic incident has been reported from Kannur, Kerala, where an 18-year-old woman passed away after following extreme dietary restrictions in an attempt to lose weight.
The deceased, identified as Srinanda from Kuthuparamba, had been subjected to body shaming by those around her due to her weight. Determined to reduce her weight, she followed strict diet plans, primarily based on advice found on YouTube. Over the past three months, she had completely stopped consuming food, which led to severe health complications.
Srinanda was eventually admitted to a hospital after developing serious health issues. Doctors who examined her were shocked by her condition. Her blood pressure had dropped to 70, and her oxygen levels had fallen to 70-72. Additionally, her sodium and potassium levels were critically low. Despite immediate medical intervention, she could not be saved and succumbed to her condition while undergoing treatment.
Before beginning her extreme diet, Srinanda reportedly weighed around 50 kg. By the time she was admitted to the hospital, her weight had plummeted to below 25 kg. Her parents informed doctors that she had been trying to lose weight for the past six months. Initially, she had reduced her food intake, but for the last three months, she had completely stopped eating.
