Gold Smuggling Probe: Actress Ranya Rao’s Alleged Links Under Scrutiny

The court has ordered actress Ranya Rao (34) into the custody of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) after she was caught smuggling gold biscuits from Dubai at Bengaluru airport. DRI officials have so far seized 14.2 kg of gold biscuits, diamonds worth ₹2.06 crore, and cash amounting to ₹2.67 crore from her possession.

Authorities revealed that Ranya Rao had traveled to Dubai 27 times in the past six months. Additionally, she had also visited Saudi Arabia, the United States, Western Asia, and European countries. Investigators have also found links between Ranya Rao and anti-national elements, prompting further questioning on that aspect.

Meanwhile, her bail petition was rejected by a special court. Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, who is Ranya Rao’s stepfather, recently stated that she got married four months ago and has been living with her husband. He also mentioned that he was unaware of her activities.
