Pakistan Batter Saud Shakeel Timed Out After Falling Asleep, Becomes First in Country’s Cricket History

Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel was dismissed in an unusual manner during the final of the Presidents Cup First-Class Tournament. Shakeel, who was supposed to take the crease on time, was late in arriving due to having fallen asleep in the dressing room. As a result, the umpires declared him "timed out."

The incident occurred on Tuesday during a match between PTV and State Bank. Shakeel was playing for State Bank. Due to the ongoing Ramadan, the match was scheduled from 7:30 PM to 2:30 AM. During the game, pacer Mohammad Shehzad took two consecutive wickets, dismissing Umar Amin and Fawad Alam.

As per the rules, the next batter must arrive at the crease within three minutes. However, Shakeel exceeded this time limit before taking his guard. PTV captain Ammad Butt appealed, leading the umpires to declare Shakeel out.

With this dismissal, Saud Shakeel became only the seventh player in international cricket history to be timed out and the first-ever player from Pakistan to suffer this fate.
