A Look at India’s Most Iconic and Tallest Shiva Statues
On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, devotees thronged Shiva temples across the country on Wednesday, with grand celebrations taking place at various Shaiva pilgrimage sites. Among the many iconic Shiva statues around the world, the tallest stands in Rajasthan, India.

Located in Nathdwara, this massive Shiva statue is 351 feet tall and is entirely made of bronze. The statue is designed to depict Lord Shiva seated amidst lush fields and surrounding hills.

In Karnataka, the Murudeshwar Shiva statue stands at 123 feet. Situated on the Arabian Sea coast, the statue portrays Lord Shiva in deep meditation.

Gujarat’s Vadodara is home to a 120-foot-tall Shiva statue. Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore, the Adiyogi Shiva statue stands at 112 feet. In Namchi, Sikkim, a 108-foot-tall Shiva statue has been erected.

In Haridwar, a 100-foot Shiva statue is located at Swami Vivekananda Park. The Nageshwar Temple in Dwarka, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines, features an 88-foot-tall Shiva statue.

Other notable Shiva statues include the 85-foot-tall statue in Vijayapura, Karnataka; the 81-foot-tall statue in Keeramangalam, Tamil Nadu; and the 76-foot-tall Mahadev statue in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Additionally, in Bengaluru, the Shiva statue in a yogic posture, known as the "Shivoham" statue, stands at 65.6 feet.
