We Must Be Granted Opposition Status: Botsa Speaks to Media After Assembly Walkout

YSRCP staged a walkout from the Andhra Pradesh Budget Session, protesting the Governor’s address. Party leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with other YSRCP members, exited the Assembly in demonstration. Following this, while Jagan Mohan Reddy left in his vehicle, YSRCP Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Botsa Satyanarayana addressed the media at the Assembly’s press point.

Botsa Satyanarayana stated that YSRCP had demanded recognition as the official Opposition in the Assembly. He emphasized that the House consists of only two factions—one being the ruling coalition and the other the Opposition. He argued that the Opposition plays a crucial role in representing the voice of the people in a democracy, and therefore, YSRCP must be granted the status of the Opposition.

Criticizing the state government, Botsa Satyanarayana alleged that there has been no adequate response to farmers’ issues. He claimed that while the government asserts it is in talks with the central authorities and working towards solutions, no concrete steps have been taken so far. He justified YSRCP’s demand for Opposition status by stating that the party aims to highlight the difficulties faced by the public and farmers.

He further accused the ruling coalition of targeting YSRCP leaders with legal cases for raising farmers' concerns. Additionally, he pointed out that even after nine months in power, the coalition government has made no significant progress on its "Super Six" election promises. Botsa Satyanarayana asserted that YSRCP's next course of action would depend on the government's response to their demand for Opposition recognition. He also declared that the party would take its fight to the public, stating that they would directly challenge the government until citizens' problems were addressed.
