Big Setback for Telangana Congress: Koneru Konappa Resigns
Telangana Congress has suffered a significant setback as former Sirpur-Kagaznagar MLA Koneru Konappa resigned from the party. Announcing his decision, Konappa stated that he would not be joining any other party and would continue as an independent leader.

Koneru Konappa had joined the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections after quitting the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). However, he struggled to integrate into the party and decided to leave within a year. His dissatisfaction with the Congress was fueled by the state government's cancellation of a flyover project that he had sanctioned during his tenure as an MLA. This led to his growing frustration with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and he had openly expressed his discontent on multiple occasions. His latest move of resigning from the party has now stirred a political debate.

Following his resignation, Konappa launched a scathing attack on the Congress, alleging that the party had turned into a "company of thieves." He also remarked that "new beggars are roaming around Sirpur-Kagaznagar," referring to Congress leaders. Additionally, he urged people to question Congress politicians directly over their actions.

Koneru Konappa first won the 2014 elections as a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate before switching to the ruling BRS. He contested and won the 2018 elections on a BRS ticket. However, in the 2023 elections, he was defeated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Palvai Harish. His discontent with the BRS grew after the party inducted BSP leader R.S. Praveen Kumar. As a result, he joined the Congress in the presence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Now, he has decided to part ways with Congress as well.

In a significant move, Konappa has announced his support for the BSP candidate in the upcoming Graduate MLC elections.
