CM Revanth Reddy Pledges Two High-Quality Sarees Every Year for Women in SHGs
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that women’s self-help group (SHG) members in the state will receive two high-quality sarees every year. Speaking at an event in Appakpalle village, Narayanpet district, where he inaugurated a petrol bunk run by a women's federation, Revanth Reddy criticized the previous government for distributing low-quality sarees that were traditionally used as scarecrows in farmlands. He assured that his government would provide sarees of the same quality that a family would gift their own sisters during festivals.

Revanth Reddy stated that his administration aims to empower one crore women and make them financially self-sufficient. He accused the previous government of neglecting women’s self-help groups and emphasized the need to strengthen them further. He revealed that Telangana currently has 67 lakh women in SHGs and that the government will allocate ₹1,000 crore annually to distribute two sarees to each of them.

Additionally, he announced plans to set up spaces at Hyderabad's Shilparamam where women can sell their handmade products. He urged women’s federations to utilize this opportunity effectively.

The Chief Minister also disclosed plans to establish petrol bunks for women’s federations on government land in every district. Over time, he said, the initiative would be expanded to ensure that at least one such petrol bunk exists in each Assembly constituency.

Revanth Reddy encouraged women to take an active role in improving rural schools. He urged them to report any lack of facilities or shortage of teachers to district collectors, assuring that the government would provide necessary funds. However, he emphasized that the responsibility of school management would lie with the community. He warned that without proper management, the allocated funds would not yield the desired results.
