Petition Filed Against KCR in Telangana High Court
A petition has been filed in the Telangana High Court against former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). The petitioner, Vijay Pal Reddy of the Farmers Federation, has requested the court to take action against KCR for not attending the Assembly despite being elected as an MLA in the recent elections.

Vijay Pal Reddy urged that as the Leader of the Opposition, KCR should actively participate in Assembly proceedings and fight for the people. He further demanded that if KCR continues to abstain from the Assembly, his MLA membership should be revoked. Additionally, he called on BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) to respond to the issue and suggested that the party should field a different candidate in KCR’s constituency.

The petition states that KCR assumed the role of Leader of the Opposition on December 16, 2023, but has not attended the Assembly since then. It also alleges that neither the Speaker nor his office has initiated any proceedings regarding KCR’s absence. The petitioner highlighted that MLA salaries were increased to ensure that legislators effectively represent the people's voice in the Assembly, and if KCR fails to fulfill his responsibilities, he should be removed from his position as Leader of the Opposition.

The petition emphasizes that the judiciary has the authority to review political and financial decisions made by the legislative and executive branches. The respondents in the case include KCR, KTR, the Speaker, and the Speaker’s office. Currently, the petition is under review by the court registry.
