KTR Criticizes Telangana Government Over Andhra Pradesh’s Alleged Water Diversion
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has accused the Congress-led Telangana government of remaining passive while Andhra Pradesh allegedly diverts the state's rightful share of river waters. He claimed that Andhra Pradesh is drawing 10,000 cusecs of water daily through the right canal of the Nagarjuna Sagar Project, while the Revanth Reddy administration fails to take any action.
KTR criticized the Telangana government, alleging that this situation has been ongoing for three months, yet the Congress leadership is merely watching instead of intervening. He contrasted the current scenario with the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), stating that KCR ensured every drop of water from the Godavari and Krishna rivers was utilized to transform barren lands into fertile fields. In contrast, he alleged that within a year of Congress rule, agricultural lands have suffered.
Highlighting Telangana’s foundational principles of "water, funds, and jobs," KTR accused the Revanth Reddy government of systematically destroying them. He further alleged that despite Andhra Pradesh already utilizing 646 TMC of Krishna river water, the Congress government in Telangana has made no effort to stop it.
