Pawan Kalyan Calls for Simpler Gift Card Refund Process on Amazon

Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has expressed dissatisfaction over the policies of the prominent e-commerce portal Amazon concerning gift cards. He stated that while adding money to Amazon gift cards is a seamless and hassle-free process, the real challenge arises when attempting to recover funds from expired gift cards.
Pawan Kalyan pointed out that users can easily load money onto gift cards by simply entering their credit/debit card details or UPI information. However, once the validity period of the gift card expires, retrieving the unused balance becomes a highly cumbersome process.
He elaborated that recovering funds from expired gift cards often requires users to contact customer care, explain their situation, and go through a complex and prolonged procedure. "Why can’t the process of reclaiming funds from expired gift cards be made simpler and more user-friendly?" he questioned.
In a post shared on his personal social media account, Pawan Kalyan suggested that unused balances from expired gift cards should be automatically transferred to the user’s primary account or the bank account linked to their Amazon account. He stated that such a system would not only save time but also prevent users from losing their hard-earned money.
“E-commerce platforms must implement simpler, more transparent, and fair policies. Providing hassle-free solutions for such issues will enhance the trust of millions of users in these platforms. Therefore, I urge Amazon to explore a user-friendly approach to address the problems faced by millions concerning gift cards,” he added.
To emphasize the gravity of the issue, Pawan Kalyan tagged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Reserve Bank of India in his post, seeking their attention and intervention in this matter.
