Pawan Kalyan, Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, participated in the 'Swachh Andhra Swachh Diwas' event held today in Namburu village, Pedakakani Mandal, Guntur district. As part of the event, he inspected the Solid Waste Management Center in the village, discussing waste collection, management, and resource generation processes with officials.
Pawan Kalyan inaugurated garbage collection vehicles deployed for waste management at the village level and personally drove one of the vehicles to mark the launch. The program included clearing years of accumulated garbage in the village as part of the first phase of the initiative.
The 'Swachh Andhra Swachh Diwas' program was launched statewide on Saturday. It is scheduled to take place on the third Saturday of every month, as per Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's directive. As part of this effort, Pawan Kalyan attended the program in Namburu, alongside Minister of Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar and Ponnur MLA Dullipalla Narendra.
At the Namburu Resource Recovery Center, Pawan Kalyan planted a sapling to inaugurate the program. He later reviewed the village-level waste collection and management processes. Initially, he focused on the management of fruit and vegetable waste, followed by inspections of plastic waste recycling and sanitary waste management equipment. He also observed the process of creating vermicompost from waste.
Officials demonstrated the use of three separate bins provided to households for collecting wet waste, dry waste, and toxic waste. Pawan Kalyan inquired about the functioning of various machines used in waste management and viewed exhibits of fruits and vegetables cultivated with the support of the resource recovery centers.
In addition to his inspections, Pawan Kalyan honored 35 sanitation workers who worked tirelessly during the recent Vijayawada floods to improve public hygiene. He personally interacted with each worker, draped them in shawls, and presented them with new clothes and fruits in recognition of their contributions.
