Hyderabad Youth Sentenced to Jail for White House Attack

A Hyderabad man, Sai Varshith Kandula, has been sentenced to eight years in prison by a U.S. court for his attack on the White House. Kandula, aged 20 and originally from Chandanagar, Hyderabad, pleaded guilty to the charges. While announcing the sentence, the court remarked that Kandula's actions were aimed at destabilizing a democratically elected government.

The incident occurred on May 13, 2024, around 9:35 p.m., when Kandula drove a truck into the barricades outside the White House. The collision caused panic, with bystanders fleeing the scene in fear. After crashing the truck, Kandula exited the vehicle, retrieved a Nazi flag, and displayed it prominently. Security forces quickly intervened and arrested him.
