EAMCET on way out in TS, open admissions in offing

Hyderabad, March 15, 2015: If the Telangana state government has its way, engineering graduate aspirants in the state will find it easy to pursue their ambition without taking the EAMCET. As the number of engineering college seats have surpassed the number of aspiring students in the state, Telangana government is thinking of scrapping the EAMCET to open the doors for all to change the scenario of engineering admissions on Tamil Nadu model. In the system in vogue in Tamil Nadu, engineering admissions are administered for aspirants based on their marks in the 10+2. If the system is implemented in Telangana, students will gain admissions to engineering and other professional colleges based on their Intermediate examinations. TS Minister Kadiyam Srihari had announced in the assembly on Saturday that a final decision on scrapping the EAMCET would be taken soon. Meanwhile, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education has got recognition from the Centre.
