AP CM threatens to invoke land acquisition act

Hyderabad,Feb 27, 2015: Asking the capital city farmers to surrender their lands before Feb 28, i.e. tomorrow in order to ensure that the land acquisition act is not invoked by the Government to complete targeted land pooling, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also offered some other sops to the farmers to convince them into parting with their fertile farm lands. "If you are not ready to hand over the lands before this month end, The Government will invoke land acquisition act," the Chief Minister told the farmers who called on him at the Secretariat. The farmers later told reporters they would soon hold a meeting and move court if the Government plans to invoke the land acquisition act to take away their lands forcibly. Chandrababu Naidu also lured the farmers with additional compensation. The package now stands as follows: Wet land farmers will now get 150 sq yards of commercial land extra in addition to the already offered 300 sq yards of commercial land and 1000 sq yards of residential land for every acre acquired. Guva, Sapota, jasmine and mango cultivators will now get a one-time payment of Rs.1 lakh per every acre acquired. Earlier , it was only Rs.50,000. Flower and fruit cultivators will now get Rs.1.50 lakh loan waiver .
