Centre to earmark 40 acres for new Parade Grounds: KCR
Hyderabad: The Central Government is said to have in principle agreed to allot 40 acres of land near the Hyderabad Golf Course, which is close to Golconda Fort, for converting it into a permanent Parade Grounds in the state capital, announced Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao here on Tuesday.
Chandrasekhara Rao made this announcement while speaking at the inaugural function of the Golconda Masters Championship, which is the biggest golf tournament that is organised by the Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA), at the Quli Qutub Shahi Tombs here.
Commenting on the need for a Parade Grounds, KCR remarked that it was a pity that the two Telugu State's do not have a permanent Parade Ground. "Every year we have to beg the Union Defence Ministry to conduct the Independence Day celebrations," KCR added.
Appreciating the HGA and Department of Telangana Tourism for converting a garbage dumping yard into a fine golf courses, KCR promised full support from the state government for promoting golf and making Hyderabad the final destination for all golfing activities in India.
Later, KCR went for the 'putting' and formally inaugurated the event that has a prize money of Rs.40 lakh.
