Red Sanders smuggler Gangi Reddy arrested in Mauritius
Hyderabad, Feb 24, 2015: Notorious Red Sanders smuggler K.Gangi Reddy , against whom 29 criminal cases have been pending in Kadapa, Chittor and Kurnool districts since 1994, was arrested in Mauritius on Feb 22, according to information reaching Hyderabad Police.
He was arrested by Interpol and Mauritius police in a joint operation while on his way to airport to fly to Dubai where he has been hiding after he ran away from AP after the election results last year.
A red corner notice was issued against him by Interpol earlier at the instance of the AP Government.
Gangi Reddy has also played a key role in the attack on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at Tirupati in 2003. While the attack was carried out by the Maoists , Gangi Reddy allegedly helped them with resources.
A top Hyderabad police official has revealed they would apply for his extradition shortly.
