India's second nuclear fuel complex to come up in AP
Hyderabad, Feb 13,2015:Brushing aside the requests of Maharashtra and Karnataka Governments, the Central Atomic Energy Department has in principle decided to set up its second nuclear fuel complex in AP.
AP is now sure to get the country's second nuclear project at Orvakal Mandal in Kurnool district. The Central Atomic Energy department will set up the project with an expenditure of Rs.Rs.4000-5000 Cr.
The Centre took the decision in favour of AP after the state Government has explained about the advantages of setting up the unit in AP.
The AP Government has promised to provide water, land and power for the nuclear fuel complex.The country's fist nuclear fuel complex is located in Hyderabad.
During his recent visit to Delhi, AP Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao held discussions with the Atomic Energy department officials over the project.
"I am hopeful that the Centre will soon announce its decision on the project,' Krishna Rao told reporters.
