States like TN have objected to giving Spl status to AP
Rambhotla says Centre is trying to achieve consensus on the issue
Hyderabad, Feb 9, 2015: AP BJP chief spokesperson Sudheesh Rambhotla disclosed here today that some states like Tamil Nadu had objected to granting special status to AP with the fear that industries from their states might migrate to AP if special status is accorded to it.
Addressing a press conference, Rambhotla said that granting special status to AP is therefore depending on arriving at a consensus among all chief ministers in the National Development Council ( NDC ) meeting.
The Centre is doing its best to achieve consensus and if it fails to arrive at a consensus, it will find alternative means of financing the state, he said, adding that the Centre has been closely monitoring the state's revenue dynamics to arrive at a decision to announce economic package for AP.
The recent granting of funds to the tune of Rs. 850 Cr to AP is only beginning and not the end as some sections of media have reported, he remarked.
